Sherborn’s Conservation Land Committed to protecting the environment, endangered wildlife species of many birds and animals, Sherborn has made a huge effort to buy up sizable tracts of “land for sale” whenever possible. Today over 50% of Sherborn acreage is in the form of a preservation, open to all residents to use and enjoy. Next to the National Seashore on the outer cape, this land town-owned is unsurpassed in eastern MA. Joggers, horseback riders, and families just seeking to see some of the most abundant collection of non-domesticated animals often use the land. It would almost be impossible to step onto a preservation and not see dozens of deer, turkeys, and many endangered species. Often painters are found in any one of these preservations trying to capture the natural wonders of undisturbed wildlife, something that is almost not heard of in an area so close to the city. The residents of the town are fiercely loyal to maintaining these natural habitats. There are many groups and associations that raise money to keep these areas clean and welcoming for all residents. |
